Gracias Algas is a Chile based seaweed wholesale company, offering organic, high quality and bulk quantities of seaweed worldwide.
We founded Gracias Algas “Algas MG Ortiz” as a family business which started in the north of Chile, in the region of Coquimbo.
Our story goes back to the beginning of the 1990s. Then, María Graciela Ortiz, studied marine biologist and her husband, Rubén Rojas (aquaculture engineer), found a business opportunity cultivating, handling and harvesting seaweed, having the chance to work with the most important markets in Asia.
After a couple of years, María Graciela started a new company exclusively dedicated to the commercialization and exportation of seaweed, working with non-industrial fishing communities and associations. We believe in quality – conducting the entire process of cultivation, harvesting, drying and exportation of seaweed, always hand in hand with collaborative work and fair trade.
