Lessonia Spicata, formerly known as Lessonia Nigrescence, is a brown seaweed endemic to Chile in the south-central zone.
The adult plant has the shape of a shrub or tree, measures up to 4 m in height and is attached to the substrate by a discoid support. It dominates the rocky intertidal zone of Chile, populating exposed and semi-exposed coasts.
Commonly used as raw material for the extraction of alginate. And in agriculture promoting crop growth and improving plant resistance to stress.
