Porphyra also known as Pyropia orbicularis is a species of edible red algae, the fronds vary in shape and color. They can measure up to 10 cm long, are flat, lobed at the edges and in some cases wavy. It is often found forming a dense community on rocky shores in turbulent waters. Porphyra is a major source of plant-derived vitamin B12.
