Chondracanthus, also known as sea chicory or Suginori, is an edible red seaweed with a flattened, branched body about 20 cm long and attached to seabed substrates to depths of up to 15 m.
Commonly used as a raw material for the extraction of carrageenan.
For human consumption, it has great nutritional value due to its high protein and fiber content, its low fat and its calcium, magnesium and iron content.
