Agarophyton Chilense, formerly known as Gracilaria Chilense, is a species of red algae, edible, with cylindrical stems of varied branching. It can grow up to 2 meters long. It is the only species of macroalgae that is commercially cultivated in Chile. Commonly used for the extraction of Agar-Agar and for human consumption.
